Support for OUTREACH
At BioEM 2024, the leading conference for the field of RF-EMF exposure, OUTREACH was introduced for the first time. The support was overwhelming.
-
The paper won the 2nd-place student oral presentation award
-
Over 30 support forms signed
-
The idea was picked up in other workshops during the conference
After the conference, OUTREACH started phase 1: garnering support within academia. When the first phase finished in September, we now move on with the second phase: reaching out to industry!

Signees
Phase 1 has just ended, so most of the signees are academic. There are many signees, below is a selection of them (median h-index is 60):
-
Emil Björnson (IEEE Fellow), professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology
-
Akimasa Hirata (IEEE Fellow), chair of ICNIRP**
-
Niels Kuster (IEEE Fellow), director of the IT'IS Foundation
-
Martin Röösli, professor at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and former ICNIRP member**
-
Frank de Vocht, professor at University of Bristol and member of ICNIRP**
-
Wout Joseph, BioEM board member and co-lead of WAVES research group
-
Piet Demeester (IEEE Fellow), professor at Ghent University
-
Luc Martens, former BioEM president and co-lead of WAVES research group
-
Sam Aerts, associate professor at The Hague University of Applied Sciences
-
Sven Kuehn, project leader at the IT'IS Foundation
-
Gabriella Tognola, director of research at IEIIT, CNR, Italy
-
Mònica Guxens and Gemma Castaño-Vinyals, from IS Global, representing for the GOLIAT project
** The person supports the initiative individually, not as a representative of ICNIRP
Project support
The following academic projects have given their support for the OUTREACH initiative:
-
Project SHAPE: Next Generation Wireless Networks, lead by prof. Piet Demeester
-
Project ATTO : A New Concept for Ultra-High Capacity Wireless Networks, lead by prof. Piet Demeester
-
Project GOLIAT: 5G exposure, causal effects, and risk perception through citizen engagement, lead by prof. Mònica Guxens
Delegates
NEW!
Beyond giving their support, delegates contribute to spreading the word. Enthusiastic by the idea, they have independently pitched the OUTREACH initiative to their networks. Currently these are
-
prof. Darko Šuka
-
prof. Sam Aerts
-
prof. Wout Joseph
Feel free to also become a delegate! Just send us an e-mail or fill in the form on the right.
OUTREACH pitched by delegate Darko Šuka @ IEEE M&N 2024, Rome, Italy (special session on human exposure of cellular networks)
OUTREACH explicitly promoted by prof. Sam Aerts @ BioEM 2024, Crete, Greece in his reviewing lecture on the future of RF-EMF exposure assessment.
